SUPPORT TO DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN IN THE UK

Since Hope for Children was founded in 1994 we have assisted many hundreds of deprived children and families through a small grants programme. This is implemented through probation officers, social workers and G.P's who identify those that cannot get support from anywhere else.

Grants between £25 and £300 are used towards respite care, special equipment for the disabled, but also emergency payments. No grant is given to pay debts but instead is used to relieve poverty and hardship. Examples include:

- A washing machine for a family with three severely disabled children who constantly wet their bedding and clothes; previously everything had been washed in the bath;
- A grant towards a special wheelchair for a paraplegic child;
- A payment towards a day at the seaside or the Silverdale Holiday Centre in Lancashire.
- Providing childrens packs for the visitors area of HMP Leeds
- Purchasing theraputic play equipment for children at Sheffield Women's Aid.
